Lesson Description

In this activity, participants will practice recognizing, counting, and understanding the value associated with different coins and bills. The examples used vary in complexity, beginning with a simple recognition and continuing through several scenarios of identifying the correct money to use to buy different items.

Objectives

Students will:

  • Identify symbols and representations on coins and bills
  • Identify the value of each coin and bill
  • Practice counting coin and bill combinations
  • Apply the value of money when making purchases
  • Students will brainstorm ways to get money
