Why Kids' Money?

How do our kids learn to manage money? At school? By watching TV? From their friends? By their own mistakes? From watching their parents manage their money?

Most kids learn from a combination of all these. But as with every other aspect of parenting, with the right information and a little commitment, parents can make a big difference in preparing their kids to conquer the many financial challenges they will face as adults.

Kids' Money is an interactive resource for parents interested in helping their children develop successful money management habits and financial responsibility. This site will continually change as a result of new comments, suggestions and information. Check us regularly, share your experience and your views, and see the difference your input makes.

The NEW Kids' Money

The Kids' Money website has been continuously published since December, 1995. As you can imagine, we've gone through a number of changes over those years. However, we have always maintained our independence and a commitment to our founding principle to be a key interactive resource of financial education information for parents.

2010 marks a major rebirth of Kids' Money. We will be:

  • Updating our look, navigation, material and links with the goal of reaffirming our position as a leading provider of resources for parents, kids and teachers and as an advocate for the financial education of children
  • Organizing resources for our three major audiences:
    1. Parents
    2. Kids
    3. Teachers
  • Seeking contributions and participation from other professionals in addition to parents, kids and teachers
  • Partnering with other organizations that share our goals and commitment

We look forward to your continuing interest and active participation. Please feel free to email us with your input. Thank you.

Current projects, in addition to the Kids' Money Web Site, include his latest book Allowance Magic: Turn Your Kids Into Money Wizards, along with the Allowance Magic website and the soon to be introduced Allowance Magic online tools. Prior to his financial career, he was a tanker pilot. With five children and six grandchildren, he has been a longtime student of parenting. Kids' Money is the start of an effort to bring parenting skills to bear on fostering responsible money management habits in children.
